Bespoke joinery for
Crowborough.

Crowborough is our closest town of any size, seven miles up the road on the edge of Ashdown Forest. It is a place of large detached houses, Edwardian and Arts-and-Crafts villas and substantial inter-war homes, the sort of property where stock windows and off-the-shelf doors never quite fit. We make joinery to suit them, by hand, in Uckfield.

Detail of a hand-made timber casement window on a red-brick property

The town grew quickly from the 1880s once the railway arrived, so much of its housing is late-Victorian, Edwardian and 1920s-30s, built generously with bay windows, deep reveals and timber detailing that mass-produced replacements flatten. We reproduce casements and sash windows in the original profile, repair where the timber is sound, and match new joinery to what is already there so a single replaced window does not stand out from its neighbours.

Being this close to home, Crowborough is also where a lot of our larger commissions sit: fitted wardrobes and dressing rooms, oak staircases, media walls, garden rooms and one-off pieces for the bigger houses around the Beacon, Jarvis Brook and the forest fringe. We draw the work for the room, build it in our workshop, and fit it ourselves rather than handing it to a contractor.

And because it is a short run from the workshop, measuring up, fitting and any follow-up snagging are all easy to arrange, which matters when you are commissioning something made to order rather than bought off a shelf.

If you have a project in Crowborough, from a single replacement sash to a full set of windows or a fitted study, tell us what you need and we will come and measure up.
